The Techizen Institute is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring that technology serves the public good.
Founded by Dr. Latanya Sweeney, the Techizen Institute builds on her pioneering work in data privacy, algorithmic fairness, and the identification and resolution of technology-society clashes: moments when technological innovation collides with human rights, democratic values, accountability, or public trust.
Spun out of Harvard's Public Interest Tech Lab, the Techizen Institute develops research, tools, public-interest platforms, and educational resources that help people, communities, journalists, policymakers, and institutions understand technology's real-world impacts and respond with practical solutions.
Our mission is to ensure that technology strengthens human dignity, privacy, fairness, democracy, and the public good—so society can enjoy the benefits of innovation without suffering avoidable harms.
